Waterman Skywriter Fountain Pen
In my post of, I typed about a silver and burgundy 2nd generation 1950s Skywriter and its particular repair. This week’s pen is the same Skywriter, but in Silver trim and purple in color. Remember that the first Skywriters had been produced underneath the Aiken Lambert name after Waterman had purchased all of them. These showed up several years later on within the belated 40s and 50s. A number of colors been around and also this pen is an example of an alternative trim alternative.
You can see your pen arrived apart without excessively energy. Be mindful when getting rid of the chapters of these pens as the plastic is fairly brittle and certainly will crack effortlessly. We utilized a heat gun for a long time prior to the section finally introduced. You can observe that it is a friction fit and that the old sac was detached from part together with dried-up.
I washed the nib and cap in an ultrasonic cleaner, eliminated the old sac from section and cleaned the area and feed, getting rid of the old ink from inside of each and every. I attached a size 14 sac into area and permitted it to sit overnight. The next day I placed the area / nib / feed to the barrel therefore the resulting pen is below.
The pen actions 5 1/8 inches sealed and 6 1/16 ins uploaded.
Here, you can see the pen from March 1 post underneath this pen. Differences will be the trim, nib color, therefore the letters American show up on the video.
From early in the day post ~
Interestingly, the name Skywriter had been taking advantage of the increasing interest in flights. Various other Pen businesses had in addition done this as evidenced because of the Wahl Eversharp Skyline while the Sheaffer Skyboy. (follow links to past posts on these pens)
The Skywriter spanned some years and many of these inexpensive pencils can certainly still be located these days in different designs and designs. Interestingly, very little information exists on it. Waterman didn't extremely promote all of them or catalog them, most likely due to the fact that they were an entry level pen. If anyone has any written material in the shape of advertising or catalogs on these outlines, i might want to view it!
These are interestingly hearty pencils that work for inexpensively nibbed pencils. I will be in search of additional variants.
