PACKAGING

The Sailor 1911 traditional water fountain pen appeared packaged in a blue hard instance box because of the Sailor logo design imprinted on the top in silver lettering. This box was inside a white cardboard sleeve. I don't actually understand the reason for the white sleeve... to help keep the box closed? Is like a waste though. We put it to reuse. Within the blue package, the pen is held in position by an elastic and ribbon on a felt bed. The bed is removable. Addititionally there is a cartridge, a converter, including only a little pamphlet towards Sailor Pen Co. plus pen. Minimal wasted area with this packaging. I think it is simple, though unspectacular. We hate being forced to keep packaging though, because I do not have that much area, therefore I favor to not have extra cost added to the price of the pen due to pretty packaging.

APPEARANCE

The Sailor 1911 Standard (in addition might be known as the Mid-Size) is a pen this is certainly on smaller side, with a torpedo shape. The trim - clip, center band, and band at the end of the pen, is all gold and incredibly shiny. The entire pen is obvious, including the cap (in which some obvious pencils *cough cough Pilot* have actually gray sleeves inside the cap). This Sailor features an inner sleeve in limit but it is also obvious. If you look, you can view it, however it cannot interrupt the continuity of the pen negatively. The pen flares very somewhat towards the center, and tapers once more to the end regarding the pen. The center band is thick and is etched with Sailor Japan Founded 1911, hence Sailor 1911! The section is obvious besides, to help you look at gold trim through it, along with the nib collar, which will be black colored. Its smooth, in just a ring around the base from it. The converter is a Sailor converter, with chrome trim. The nib is a beautiful 14K silver nib with beautiful detailing about it, plus the nib quality indicated on it.
NIB & OVERALL PERFORMANCE

Sorry towards lint. The horror...!

Once more, this nib is stunning. The detailing is lovely. I became anticipating a double slit nib, becoming a music nib, while the Platinum #3776 songs has a double slit nib, therefore does my classic Waterman. But the reason is Sailor was able to create a music nib with one slit that however delivers a wet, stubby range. First thing i desired understand had been whether there is any flex for this nib: there isn't. There was undoubtedly range variation due to the fact nib is fairly stubbed, nevertheless the nib itself doesn't flex. There is a fair number of comments, but it is a type of feedback i've discovered typical of Sailor nibs (including with the Zoom nib). It is not irritating, the nib doesn't capture on report, it just "announces" itself while you compose.
I inked with Sailor's Sei-Boku (pigmented blue-black), which can be an ink which in the dried out side. Undoubtedly, the nib puts down a really nice stubby line. I might have favored a wetter line, really, but maybe that's because I became expecting something similar to the vintage Waterman music nib it's my job to make use of, but perhaps the Sailor Zoom nib We have is far juicier. I attempted to open within the tines just a little but son will they be snug! Upon some ink evaluation, the Sei-Boku impacted the circulation some as it's so dried out. Utilizing an ink that's less dry enhanced the movement plenty.
Regardless, this songs nib provides a broad, stubby line, transforming my simple handwriting into something fun and unique, that I think is perfect for anyone to enjoy! You can expect to burn off through a converter of ink quite quickly though.
The music nib brings about shading attributes of an ink in a great method! Even yet in the thing I would usually phone a boring blue!
AVAILABLE
I do believe this is a fantastic pen at hand - it really is incredibly comfortable, great fat, great balance. It writes well unposted but it's mastered posted because it posts profoundly and easily. Writing for extended sessions is no problem. The girth associated with pen is ideal for my grip too, which astonished me personally because i will adjust my grip to just about any measurements of pen without problem, but this just hit me as great in grip. Make sense? Perhaps not. The point is: it is comfortable, and it is a pleasure to create with, in both regards to just how it feels at your fingertips, but in addition due to the pleasure of witnessing what the nib produces.

The clip has actually great springtime it is tight - very practical. It offers a size therefore it will clip on safely to papers/pockets.

If you're wondering whether this Standard is ideal, or if you will have to increase a dimensions to your 1911 big, here you will find the two:

ADVANTAGES
  • Beautiful aesthetics - obvious body with gold trim.
  • Very comfortable to publish with (especially posted).
  • Posts really.
  • Gorgeous 14K silver nib (while have a silver nib for this price!)
  • Produces great range variation with ease.
  • Creates ink look great due to shading.

CONS
  • Will undoubtedly be on the small part for people with larger hands.
  • I became hoping this nib would be actually damp. I love my nibs become a 9 regarding 10 from the wetness scale. I believe the Zoom nib is better for wetness. Some people choose a moderately damp publisher, in which case, the songs nib is a far greater choice!
  • With this particular clear form of the 1911 traditional, the chrome converter trim is extremely apparent if the remaining portion of the pen's trim is gold. By using a cartridge, this won't be a problem, and in case your pen is a solid coloured human body (black colored, yellowish, etc), this will not be a problem. If you like obvious pencils like i actually do, you will probably notice this. But this is not a deal breaker for me personally.

OVERALL

Whether you desire a songs nib or perhaps not (and if you don't, there's a whole slew of other nib grades to pick from), the Sailor 1911 traditional series is a really good series to look into, particularly the obvious variation. The gold trim on obvious human anatomy is gorgeous, and it is not a giant pen - ideal for we females and gents that don't have giant fingers. Posts deeply, writes well, 14K gold nib... and 10percent off at Pen Chalet?

Pen Chalet supplied this pen for reasons of this review. I became perhaps not paid monetarily for my review. Anything you've read listed here is my own viewpoint. There are no affiliate links in this review.
