Going door-to-door on a cozy Friday mid-day to set up smoke alarms is probably not what we consider at the end of their particular work week. For the Red Cross and neighborhood Fire Departments that activity is right in range with regards to goal and their particular hearts.

Red Cross system Development Specialist/AmeriCorps VISTA coordinated the event combined with Fountain Fire Department. "This was my very first make an effort to arrange a property Fire venture occasion, " Kozuszek said at the end of the event. In each situation the Red Cross and Fire Department tested existing smoke alarms of course they were discovered to-be inoperative they certainly were instantly changed. "it’s this that we want to see, " stated Fountain Fire Department Fire Inspector Mark Stanwood. "that which we do not want to see are people being killed or hurt in a home fire because their particular security had been faulty."
The Red Cross will be call at full force on October 14 because they partner with all the Air energy Academy cadets to install smoke alarms in El Paso and Teller Counties.
